Social Media Updates

What Food Businesses Need To Know

Keeping up with social media updates can be overwhelming, especially when you’re running a farm, food, or drink business. That’s why we’ve pulled together some of the latest updates to help you save time, stay current, and make your content work for you.

When deciding which social media updates are most relevant to you, remember your goals. Whether your social media goal is to increase your audience size through greater reach, generate more click-throughs to your website, elicit more comments and engagement from your community, or have a more visually appealing content feed, each update has its own benefits.

1. Instagram now supports vertical full-frame photos

Instagram just made a quiet but important change: it now supports 3:4 images or 1080 by 1440 pixels. That’s the default shape your smartphone shoots in.

Why this matters?

No more awkward cropping or dead space. Your full-frame farm or food shots can now take up the whole screen in-feed, making them more scroll-stopping. Just shoot on your phone and post, no resizing needed.

2. Trials = More Reach

Instagram says creators are getting better engagement when they post “trial reels.” Think: quick, unpolished clips that feel real and not over-produced.

Why this matters?

Reels are shown to non-followers first, so this is a great way for farm, food and drink brands to get discovered by new people

What to Try?

  1. Behind-the-scenes clips of your process, farm, etc.
  2. A first attempt at a new recipe
  3. Casual voiceovers explaining your process
  4. Jumping on a trending sound or moment

3. Meta's Edits App Adds A Teleprompter

Meta’s new Edits app now has a built-in teleprompter. So when you’re filming a talking-head video, your script scrolls right on screen.

Why this matters?

If you’ve been avoiding getting on camera because you struggle memorizing lines, this takes the pressure off. It’s now way easier to talk confidently about your food brand, farm, or anything else you’ve got going on.

4. LinkedIn Analytics Got Smarter

LinkedIn’s post analytics are getting an upgrade. You can now see who viewed your post, who followed you, and how many people clicked on your custom links (if you’re a premium member).

Why this matters?

For premium users, this helps you figure out what’s working, and what’s not. You’ll get a clear picture of what content is driving clicks to your website or newsletter, so you can spend your time on the right things.

5. YouTube Makes Promotion Easier

YouTube is testing a new update that lets you promote your content directly from the main app, no need to fiddle with Google Ads anymore.

Why this matters?

You can now boost your videos straight from the playback screen. You can track performance, manage your campaigns, and grow your audience, all from YouTube or YouTube Studio.

6. YouTube Posts In Shorts Feed

YouTube’s also adding post alerts within the Shorts feed, so if you’re posting regular updates as a creator, they’ll get more visibility. Great if you’re building your brand and want to keep top-of-mind with your subscribers.

Why this matters?

This means more visibility for your updates, product drops, behind-the-scenes clips, without needing ad spend if you’re working with a budget.

Shorts are already favoured by YouTube’s algorithm. Now, post alerts will gain even more traction and reach!

7. BlueSky Adds Verified Badge

BlueSky is still growing and is now verifying notable users.

Why this matters?

If you’re building authority as a food or farming expert, that blue tick could help build trust and visibility on the app.

8. Meta Says: Put Links In The Comments

Meta’s now suggesting you drop clickable links in the comments, not the caption. Their reasoning? Links in captions are distracting and might hurt your reach.

Why this matters?

If you’re posting about an event, recipe, or product, leave the link in your comment and make your caption more engaging. It’s cleaner, and apparently, better for performance.

9. Instagram Posts Showing In Google Search

Your posts can now appear in public search engines like Google. This setting can be toggled on or off in your account’s privacy settings.

Why this matters?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a powerful way to get your content in front of more people. With this feature turned on, your posts can reach a much wider audience beyond Instagram.

To make the most of it, be sure to include keywords related to your farm, food, or drink business and niche in your captions, bios, and hashtags.
